Steamband is awesome. I was playing a lot of it right before I came home - enough to keep me from finishing my final paper.
Oh dear ...
I won Steamband without even realising yesterday, because I have to play 0.4.0 (the latest version won't work on a Mac, which is all I have) and there's some kind of bug that means it doesn't notice when you win. I got as far as Lab Level 8 before I got suspicious and Googled to find out that I had, in fact, won eight levels ago.
Actually, Glen Waverley's good for me. It's not so far from where I live, as opposed to places like Brunswick, Carlton and the city, which are far away from me.
I'll try and be there wherever it is, though.
Thanks! Not that I'm sure there will be a Thing, yet. Maybe I'll just advertise my imminent presence at a few different locations over the next couple of weeks. The travelling insomnius show! I'm sorry I won't make it to your celebratory thingy tonight. But many many congratulations of getting out of the pit of doom :)
Damn patriarchy! Glen Waverley is not far away from everything! It is closer to meeee! And even closer to splatchtrock.
That is true! I still find it very difficult to budge from my "everything in Glen Waverley is terrible" mindset, but obviously I should try harder!
I have decided that I will travel as far as necessary to see you before you go away. If you don't have a Going Away Thing I will have to travel a *really* long way in order to see you after you go away.
<3
Glen Waverleyness is no impediment to me & steve, although timing might be something of an impediment. i think you should have a going-away-thing unless it feeeels like too much work/effort/complicatedness for you right now, in which case you shouldn't. or at least, you shouldn't be the one in charge of organising it.
also, i am glad that the food and ducted heating is agreeing with you.
I am possibly devising a cunning plan, which may or may not involve Saturday the 19th. I suppose we will see what happens!
mmm heating.
I drove myself (!) to Glen Waverley a few weeks ago. It was surprisingly pain free!

Glen Waverley is too far away, I demand a Gulfstream!
Does that run past New Zealand?

We are of the opinion that they are a fancy sort of corporate jet, and not an ocean current.
While superficially they may seem similar, I assure you, they are entirely different sorts of things.
Travelling far away is a reasonable idea if you're going somewhere warm. If you're going to the US, or Eastern Europe, I can mind modest items like music stands for you... (God, I'm cheap...) Having a going away party in Glen Waverley expresses your awesomeness well.
Glen Waverly is better for me than city bound. And if you have a Thing, I might even come!
Careful! Are you sure you'd want to break your streak? :)
Hmmm fair call. Might not bother.
Or will I?
I played Steamband for a bit but got confused by the mecha. I intend to try again at some point.
I would enjoy attending any kind of thing, but I can only really do weekends. Glen Waverley is closer than not Glen Waverley.
Um. Where you going, and why?
The answer to your second question can be found in the answers to the first question in the poll :)
Oh! And the first question can probably be answered by thinking about our crazy similar lives!
Ahh. Well. At least you know where you'll move to after Brisbane (?).
The last time I played Steamband, I forgot it was really an Angband variant. Therefore, I "accidentally" loaded my shotgun with (-23, -23) {cursed} buckshot (or whatever it was) on level 1 and had 0 chance of actually doing anything for the rest of the game.
Other than that, it was a fairly good variant.
I had an issue with accidental cursed ammo in some variant or other recently, but I just shot it all at nothing and then used a non-cursed kind. Then I wasn't sure why I'd never thought of doing that before.
I'm guessing that in Steam there is more of an issue with ranged weapons making noise, I wouldn't really know because I just meleed everything to death and won. So unsophisticated, but it worked.

Come to think of it, not sure why I didn't do that either. Seems pretty obvious now that it's mentioned to me. The other half of what should have been obvious was "This is an Angband variant (of which I've played lots), items on level 1 are never useful".
